What is The Nice Guys?
The Nice Guys is a 2016 neo-noir buddy action comedy movie set in the late 1970s in Los Angeles. It follows Jackson Healy, a brawler-for-hire, Holland March, a P.I, and Holly March, Holland's daughter.
The Plot.
After the mysterious death of a famous pornstar, Misty Mountains, Holland March is hired by her aunt, Mrs. Glenn to investigate. March's investigation leads him to Ameila Kuttner, and a fearful Amelia pays Jackson Healy to scare March away. Healy visited March at his home and broke his arm while telling March to stay off Amelia. When Healy returns home, he is interrogated by two thugs, "Blueface" and an unnamed assosciate, about Amelia. Believing Amelia is in danger, Healy fights them off and teams up with a reluctant March to find her.
Budget & Box Office.
The Nice Guys is directed by Shane Black, and had a budget of $50 million but was a box office flop by only grossing $63 million. But it was praised highly by critics, and is said that the box office bomb was due to it being lined up with The Angry Birds and Neighbors 2. Because the movie didn't make the money it thought it would, The Nice Guys never got a sequel despite wanting one. Despite this, it has gained a cult following and became even more popular due to Project Hail Mary.
